PBS - Positive Behaviour Support

PBS is a process for cultivating a safe and productive school environment. We strive to support the learning, development and independent practice of positive behaviour in the many varying contexts that are familiar and unfamiliar to our students.

Students at Mount Magnet are able to earn PBS Points throughout the day for demonstrating positive behaviour and spend these points at our PBS School Shop. Beyond the positive effect the school shop has on students’ behaviour, it also helps them to learn the fundamentals of financial literacy and the need to save and be patient.

Although PBS is more of a framework than a program, it is something that our school community, and many school communities around Western Australia, take very seriously.

Breakfast Club

Breakfast club runs each morning from 8:00am to 8:15am. All students are welcome to come along if they haven’t been able to get breakfast in beforehand.

Run Club

Run Club runs on Tuesday and Thursday mornings, 7:45am – 8:00am. Run Club is a great way to ensure that students get the required amount of daily fitness in. It is a positive way to start the day and students can earn prizes and PBS Points for their respective faction.

SHINE/SHIMMER

SHINE and SHIMMER are engagement programs which works with our Primary and Secondary female students to help them build everlasting confidence, respect and communication skills to take beyond the school years.

SHINE is the secondary program. SHIMMER is our upper primary program. It is a multi-faceted like skills program which is aligned to curriculum and delivered in collaboration with Mount Magnet District High School’s individual priorities. You can find out more about SHINE from their website: https://www.shinetoday.com.au/
